Homework Tips

Test Taking Tips

  • Remove Distractions.  Doing Homework in a quiet place can help you finish faster.

  • Make a Routine.  Setting a specific time for homework and encouraging you child to finish before watching TV, etc. can encourage more responsibility.

  • Prioritize.  Make sure that assignments that are due the next day are completed first. Afterwards, other assignments can be completed.

  • Check Understanding.  Making sure that your child understands the assignment can remove some of the stress and tears of homework time.

  • Guide.  Offer ideas to lead your child into finding the correct answer. Don't give answers.

  • Get Organized.  Packing the backpack the night before can save some morning time stress. And homework left on the table doesn't do much good.

  • Make sure to get lots of rest the night before the test.

  • Make sure to eat a well-balanced meal before the test.

  • Be sure to not leave any blanks. If you are stuck on a question, take your best guess and move on.

  • Consider every option. Don't cross off the longest choice. Test makers want to insure accuracy.

  • If you are able to study for the test, be sure to study before the test.

  • Remember! Just relax. Do the best you can.
